- WCSO: Washington County Sheriff's Office
- PCF: Purgatory Correctional Facility
- Complaint: For the purposes of this policy, a complaint is defined as a complaint against the WCSO or a WCSO employee from a non-incarcerated person. Complaints from incarcerated inmates are termed “inmate grievances” and are handled according to policy: CG 03 Inmate Grievances.
AB 15_102 GENERAL
- Policy:
- Complaints shall be forwarded to the Sheriff.
- A person wishing to submit a complaint should be encouraged to do so in writing via a Citizen Complaint form.
- A Citizen Complaint form may be submitted via the WCSO website or obtained and submitted at the WCSO main office window.
- If a person does not wish to submit his or her complaint in writing, the employee receiving the verbal complaint shall draft a detailed email and forward the complaint to the Sheriff via email.
- Under the direction of the Sheriff, the Sheriff's designee shall oversee the research, investigation, tracking, and resolution of complaints.
- The applicable division chief should be notified of the complaint and the final resolution.
- If applicable, employee discipline shall be in accordance with policy: AB 10 Corrective Action and Discipline and policy: AB 11 Internal Affairs and Criminal Investigations.

Citizen complaints need to be addressed effectively in order to preserve a positive public image of the WCSO.
