CC 07_101 DEFINITIONS
- WCSO: Washington County Sheriff's Office
- PCF: Purgatory Correctional Facility
- ID: Identification
CC 07_102 GENERAL
- Policy:
- Every PCF inmate assigned to a general housing location should be provided with a photo ID card.
- ID cards for inmates housed in Booking or in a special management cell (i.e., lock down or administrative segregation) should be maintained by PCF personnel.
- Inmate ID cards shall remain the property of PCF.
- As with other PCF property, inmates shall be responsible for the care of their issued ID card while it is in their possession.
- Lost or damaged ID cards should be replaced as soon as possible, consistent with current disciplinary procedures (reference policy: CG 07 Punitive Discipline).
- Inmates shall present their ID card to any PCF personnel upon request.
- Rationale:
- Inmate identification cards allow for quick identification of inmates. Quick identification of inmates allows personnel to work more efficiently and effectively.
CC 07_103 TRACKING
- Policy:
- Inmates should submit their ID card directly to a deputy prior to leaving their housing area. ID cards should be submitted by an inmate to a deputy in person, not through a pass-through drawer.
- Area control centers should track the location of each inmate who has left their area by placing the inmate's ID card in a location-labeled box or bin.
- Inmates should receive their ID cards back in person from a deputy upon return to their housing area.
- Rationale:
- Inmate location tracking is necessary in order to ensure inmate safety and facility security.
CC 07_105 CARD CHECKS
- Policy:
- Inmate ID cards should be checked by deputies at each meal serving.
- Rationale:
- An inmate ID card provides little to no purpose if the card is damaged and cannot clearly identify the intended inmate.
